Louise died on June 11th after complications from surgery. She is back with the many cagemates she survived over the years. We will miss you.
Louise and her cagemate Thelma came to us in mid-2006 as a bonded pair. Thelma suffered from a variety of ailments including adrenal disease and insulinoma. We decided to try surgery with Thelma thinking that her quality of life would improve greatly if we could address her medical issues, but she passed away the day after her operation, leaving Louise alone.
We then decided that it would be really great if we could find a forever home for Louise, but she when nutso when she left the shelter, so back she came. You see, the shelter WAS her forever home, as far as she was concerned, and she did not appreciate being taken away.
So, Louise will stay with us at the rescue, where she will get a lot of love and attention every day. She shares her cage with Buffy, our resident paraplegic ferret, and seems quite content.
